If a seal slips or the insulation gets tired, the heater doesn’t just stop working—it becomes a safety risk. We aren’t interested in guessing how long these things last. Instead, we put them in a room and try to break them on purpose.
The “Steam Room” Treatment
We take our IP65 infrared lamps and lock them in a humidity chamber. Then, we crank up the moisture and cycle the temperature for hundreds of hours. It’s basically a fast-forward button for years of bathroom steam. We’re hunting for two things: leaks and rust. Water vapor is sneaky. It finds the tiniest gaps in the housing and crawls inside to attack the electrical contacts. If that gasket isn’t sitting perfectly, moisture hits the wiring or the quartz tube. We check the insulation resistance after every single cycle. If the numbers dip even a little bit? The design is trash, and we start over.
The Shock Factor
Here is the wild part: these heaters go from freezing cold to 500°C in a heartbeat. That kind of rapid expansion and contraction puts a massive amount of stress on the waterproof seals. It’s like bending a paperclip back and forth—eventually, it snaps. We need to know that our gaskets can take that beating without cracking. Shortwave infrared lamps heat up instantly, but that intensity can warp cheap plastic. That’s why we use high-temp polymers. We want that IP65 rating to hold firm even when the lamp is running at full blast.
The Balancing Act
You might think, “Just seal it airtight, then!” But there’s a catch. If you seal it too tight, you trap the heat inside and cook the electronics. It’s a tricky balance. You need a design that lets the unit breathe and manage internal pressure without letting the steam sneak in. If you buy a heater that hasn’t gone through these kinds of aging tests, you’re not buying a product. You’re just waiting for it to fail.
