In textile curing, it’s all about getting that thermal energy exactly where it needs to go to set your dyes and resins without ruining the material. That’s why we lean on high-purity synthetic quartz for our lamps. Standard glass just doesn’t cut it—it blocks too much of the infrared energy. When we talk about that “gold standard” of 99.99% purity, we’re basically talking about scrubbing out every last bit of aluminum and iron. The physics side of things Here’s the thing: impurities in the quartz act like a sponge for infrared radiation. If you’re using something that’s only 95% pure, the tube itself starts soaking up the heat. That’s a double whammy. You lose the energy that should be hitting your fabric, and you put a lot of unnecessary stress on the glass. But with 99.99% purity? Almost every single IR photon shoots straight through.
